Research Interests
My research is focused on Neotropical Mantodea revisionary systematics and phylogenetic relationships. Using phylogenetic methods, I aim to restructure Mantodea classification to reflect natural lineages and produce a comprehensive monograph of the Earless Neotropical Mantodea. I am also interested in the evolution of the egg case or ootheca, a protein-made structure that mantids form around their eggs to provide them with mechanical support and protection against natural enemies and environmental conditions. Egg cases show tremendous structural variation and on going research suggest that this variation contains phylogenetic signal. I am aiming to develop a system to code egg cases characters in order to incorporate this data into Mantodea systematics and taxonomy.
Editing Work
